Bonnie Lou (Harris) Schriever

Bonnie Lou (Harris) Schriever, age 74, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on June 7, 2020 after a long battle with liver disease.

Due to state and federal guidance on gatherings, a private immediate family funeral service was held at the United Methodist Church in Marble Rock with Pastor Dennis Burns officiating. The service was live streamed on the Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home Facebook page and is available there for viewing. Burial was at Hillside Cemetery in Marble Rock.

Bonnie was born on May 31, 1946 to Galen and Ella (Pierson) Harris. Bonnie was united into marriage to Ronald (Ronnie) Schriever on Dec. 11, 1964. Ronnie and Bonnie celebrated 55 years of marriage this last December.

Bonnie is the loving mother to Todd (Lynette) Schriever of Marble Rock, Troy (Cindy) Schriever of Rudd and Rhonda (Dan) Neal of Clear Lake. Bonnie is a loving grandmother to Megan (Dan) Dorr, Benjamin Neal (Madison Shreckengost), Andrew Schriever (Courtney Cayton), Brooke Neal (Weston Engels), Samantha Schriever, Alex Schriever and Austin Schriever.

Bonnie grew up in Marble Rock and lived her married life there as well. She was an active member of the community and participated in town events whenever she could. Bonnie was a life-long member of the Marble Rock United Methodist Church. She enjoyed hosting and supporting events, cherished her church family, was President of United Methodist Women, Chair of Missions and President of Study Club. One of Bonnie’s favorite church events is one that she and Ronnie hold each year on Christmas Day where members of the community are invited to join them for a Christmas meal. She enjoyed planning the meal and spending Christmas Day with her community and church family.

Bonnie was a nurse at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital for 32 years and after retirement worked part time at the Floyd County Family Practice for 14 years. Bonnie helped take care of others in her community as well. Helping others was her calling.

Bonnie loved spoiling her grandchildren in many ways. The grandchildren will always remember the love she had for holidays, with Christmas being her favorite. They will always remember the college care packages she would send with many of their favorite things and the cards they would receive with a special treat inside.

Bonnie enjoyed mailing regular greetings and will be remembered for all the cards she sent out to friends, family and community members.

Bonnie is survived by her loving husband Ronnie; her sister, Phyllis McRoberts of Greene; brother-in-law, Larry Bill of Riceville; brother-in-law, Gary Schriever of Rockford; sister-in-law, Marge Swedberg of Rudd; brother-in-law, Larry (Carol) Schriever of Floyd; brother-in-law, Danny (Rhonda) Schriever of Lake Mills; sister-in-law, Nancy Schriever of Marble Rock and many nieces and nephews.

Bonnie joins in Heaven her Dad and Mom; infant grandson, Brandon Neal; sisters: Thelma Gansen and Dorthy Bill; Father and Mother-in-law (Benjamin and Genevieve Schriever); brothers-in-law: Dale McRoberts, Jack Gansen, Donald Swedberg, Dennis Schriever and James Schriever; nephew (brother of her heart), Larry Gansen and his wife, June Gansen along with their son, Joe E. Gansen; many uncles, aunts and cousins; and best friends: Joyce Marzen and Leona Enabnit.
