Mary L. Roethler

Mary L. Roethler age 77, of North Washington, IA passed away on July 28, 2020 at Mercy One North Hospice Mason City, IA.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Immaculate Conception Church in North Washington, IA at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 3, 2020 with Father Brian Dellaert officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery at North Washington.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 2, 2020 at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in New Hampton, IA. Scriptural Wake Service to follow the visitation 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Monday, one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Mary Louise (Smith) Roethler was born on Sept. 22, 1942 to Harry and Nettie (Flynn) Smith in Seattle, WA. As a child the family moved to Charles City, IA. Mary attended and graduated from Immaculate Conception School in 1960. After her graduation she was employed at JC Penny in Charles City until her marriage. She was united in marriage to Joseph Roethler on Nov. 5, 1966 at Immaculate Conception Church in Charles City. The couple lived briefly on a farm north of Alta Vista, IA before making their home on the present farm north east of North Washington, IA.

Mary enjoyed shopping and gardening her flowers. She loved being with her family and her grand-dogs. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and attending all of their events.

She was survived by her son Michael (Dannette) Roethler of Charles City, IA, daughters Jennifer Roethler of Des Moines, IA, and Kate (Darren) Dieterich of Cedar Falls, IA and her grandchildren Megan Roethler, Drew Roethler, Brynn Roethler, Morgan Dieterich, Willie Dieterich and Adie Dieterich, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joseph on June 2, 2016, her sister Kathy Deutsch and her brother in law Jerry Deutsch.
