Geraldine ‘Gerry’ Elizabeth Lynch

Geraldine “Gerry” Elizabeth Lynch, 79, passed away on Nov. 30, 2020 at the Floyd County Medical Center.

Due to the pandemic, a private service will be held Dec. 5 in the social hall of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church followed by a burial service at Calvary Baptist Cemetery, both in Charles City, IA. A celebration of life will be held at a later time in 2021.

Gerry was born Dec. 19, 1940 to Louis and Delma (Dugan) Hagarty in Charles City, IA, the fourth child of thirteen children. Gerry attended Immaculate Conception Catholic School in Charles City, IA.

On July 25,1959, she and Craig A. Lynch were united in marriage at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The couple made their home there and were blessed with seven children. Gerry was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where she was active in Saint Theresa Circle.

Gerry enjoyed traveling with her husband and spending time with her family, all of whom were her greatest gifts. Gerry was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who dearly loved receiving kisses from her family.

Gerry is survived by her husband of 62 years, Craig A. Lynch, and her seven children, Robin (Kent) Risbeck of Norwalk, IA, Cindy Peters of Ankeny, IA, Brian (Donna) Lynch of Charles City, IA, Brad Lynch of Charles City, IA, Christine (Brent) Schlader of Charles City, IA, Rick (Tracey) Lynch of Charles City, IA, and Alison (David) Reams of Charles City, IA, 15 grandchildren, Shannon Schaller, Craig McInroy, Rachel Risbeck, Rebekah Risbeck, Brandon Peters, BreeAnn Peters, Benjamin Lynch, Zachary Lynch, Samuel Lynch, Tylor Schlader, Morgan Walters, Jeffrey Lynch, Lauren Lynch, Nathaniel Reams and Noah Reams, 10 great-grandchildren, Kendall and Austin Schaller, Nola and Quinn McInroy, Sarah Schaller, Christian Schaller, Caleb Moberg, Archie Peters, Rosalee Kamara, and Baby Walters, due in January of 2021, four sisters, LaVonne (Curt) Bigger of Appleton, WI, Judy (Don) Olejniczak of Charles City, Jane (Tom) Offerman of Charles City, and Jean (Bill) Holscher of Ankeny, 3 brothers, Louis (Barb) Hagarty of Waterloo, Robert (Diane) Hagarty of Newton, and Thomas (Amy) Hagarty of Charles City; two brother in laws, Bruce Koll of Marshalltown and Art Hunt of Charles City; two sister in laws, Jolene Hagarty of Charles City and Rosalie Hagarty of Bellevue, NE.

Gerry is preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Delma Hagarty, her in-laws, Almon and Elva Lynch, two brothers, Paul Hagarty and Joseph Hagarty, three sisters, Carolyn Koll, Ruth Hunt, and Theresa Rose Hagarty, one son-in-law, Randy Peters, and two sister-in-laws, Rose Marie South, and Shirley Smith.

The family would like to particularly thank Dr. David Schrodt, Dr. Paul Royer, and the nursing staff of the Floyd County Medical Center for their care, kindness, and compassion during the duration of her stay there.

In lieu of flowers, kindly direct memorial donations to the family for distribution at a later time to charities of their choice.
