Margarete Edith Stohr

Margaret Edith Stohr, 94, formerly of Charles City, IA passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2021 in Floresville, TX.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2021 from 5-7 pm at Fullerton-Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St, Charles City. A limited attendance funeral service will be held at St John Evangelical Lutheran Church with Reverend Anita Nuetzman officiating at 10 am, Jan. 29, 2021. Burial will take place at Sunnyside Memory Gardens in Charles City.

Margaret was born on April 14, 1926 in Clarion, IA to Peter and Mary (Daggett) Rasmassen. On July 31, 1945, she was united in marriage to Glenn Stohr at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA and to their union four children were born. Margaret resided in Charles City for over 60 years and was an active member of St John Evangelical Lutheran Church where she assisted with church suppers and funeral food service.

Margaret and her husband were avid travelers; especially when it came to visiting their son and his family in Germany. They also traveled around the United States.

During her life, she loved visiting with neighbors, baking for family and friends, and knitting. She knitted many afghans that her family still treasures. Later in life, she knitted newborn baby caps for family, friends and donated many to the less fortunate.

In addition to being a wonderful mother and homemaker, she worked at the Charles City Pamida in the pet department for many years, until the store closed.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Terry (Sandra) Stohr Sr. of Columbus, OH, Glennys (Edward) Cross of Portola, CA, Larry (Ronda) Stohr of Altoona, IA, and Scott (Nicki) Stohr of Floresville, TX; grandchildren, Terry Stohr Jr., Jennifer Stohr, Stephanie Stohr (Pope), and Renee Stohr (DuToit), one great grandchild, Everson Dutoit and many other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 2013, Glenn Stohr after nearly 68 years of marriage; parents, Peter and Mary Rasmassen and brother, Jerold.
