GeNeil Strassburg

GeNeil Strassburg, 80, of Charles City, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2021 at the Floyd County Medical Center.

A celebration of GeNeil’s life will be held at a later date.

GeNeil was born on April 23, 1940 to Rueben and Edna (Christensen) Marson in Baldwin, Wisconsin. She was one of 12 siblings. She attended Logan High School in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

GeNeil was married to the love of her life, Edward T. Forer Jr. on April 11, 1958. While married, they adopted their daughter Lynette at 6 weeks old in November 1969. Edward passed away in 1978, and GeNeil later married George Strassburg in 1982. The couple moved from La Crosse to Charles City. GeNeil was a nurse’s aid for over 30 years. She was very compassionate about her job, the residents, and people she would come in contact with. GeNeil was the life of the party and always had a joke to make people laugh. She will be remembered for her spunky attitude and love for jokes. She adored her family and cherished the time she had with her great-granddaughter.

Living family members include her daughter, Lynn Forer of Charles City; granddaughter, Shelby (Brent) Gerleman of Charles City; great-granddaughter, Reagan Gerleman; siblings: Rhea (Donald) Breidel, Janet Kleinschmidt, Wanda Clark, Sandra Post, Gary Marson, and Bob Marson; along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first and second husband; parents; two brothers; and three sisters.
