Margaret Edith Schickerath

Margaret Edith Schwickerath, age 85, of Charles City, Iowa, passed away Friday, Jan. 22, 2021, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa.

Cremation has taken place and a Mass will held at a later date at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City. Inurnment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Charles City.

Margaret was born Jan. 21, 1936, in Charles City, the daughter of Edward and Florence (Hanson) Griffin. She married Vernon Schwickerath in February of 1956, and they divorced in August of 1974. Margaret became an LPN in 1976, and enjoyed working for five years at the Chautauqua Nursing Home in Charles City. She then provided in home-care of the elderly until her retirement in 2010. Margaret’s greatest joy was her children and being a wonderful grandma.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Edward (Florence) Griffin; siblings, Harold, Everett, Lyle, Lawrence, and Raymond.

She is survived by her children, Cindy (Kevin) Martin, Allen (Carey) Schwickerath, Roland (Maxine) Schwickerath, and Lora (Larry) Schwickerath; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson; and siblings, Arlene, Phyllis, and Jesse.
