Lois Pittman

Lois Pittman, 94, of Charles City died peacefully at home on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2021.

A graveside service will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Charles City at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2021 with Rev. Steve Hansen from Trinity United Methodist Church officiating.

Lois, the daughter of Clyde and Audra Wiant, was born on Aug. 16, 1927 in Charleston, West Virginia. After graduating from high school there in 1944, she attended college and graduated in 1950 from Asbury College in Wilmore, KY. In 1948 she married James Pittman.

A talented pianist, she began performing in church and tent revivals at age 11. She accompanied church and school choirs and gave piano lessons most of the rest of her life. She was also known for her cooking skills, and taught international and gourmet cooking for several years in the ‘70’s.

She and Jim moved to Charles City upon his retirement in 1992. In Charles City she was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and played in their bell choir. She was also active in PEO and AAUW.
