Carole Kay Knight Severin

Carole Kay Knight Severin passed away on the evening of Sept. 18, 2021, at the age of 80.

A funeral service for Carole will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 23, 2021 at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home in Charles City. Burial will follow at Sunnyside Memory Gardens in rural Charles City.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the start of the service on Thursday.

Born in New Hampton, Iowa on Nov. 14, 1940, Carole was the fifth child of 11 for Arnold and Irene (Heiserote) Knight. She attended school in New Hampton and had many friends, many of whom were also her siblings.

Carole married the love of her life, Virgil Severin on Feb. 18, 1961. Together they had four children but were surrogate parents to many of the friends of their children. They were also instrumental in the operations of their church, the First Christian Church of Christ; with Carole serving right up to the day of the church’s closing. Carole was active in the Boosters Club, and especially the Stoney Point Players. After Virgil’s passing in 2007, Carole continued to stay busy with cards, thrifting and doting on her family.

Carole was preceded in death by her beloved husband, both parents, and four brothers. She is survived by her four children; Jordon (Holly) Severin, Richard Severin, Carrie (Greg) Martin, and James (Teresa) Severin, 10 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by 6 siblings and countless family friends. Each of her children claims to be her favorite, and depending on the day, they may have been right.

In place of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions in her name to The Stoney Point Players.
