Jon Roger Kemp; On Monday, Aug. 9, 2021, Roger Kemp, age 81, from the Vac Shack in Charles City talked his way into heaven. He was a beloved father, treasured grandfather, a respected businessman, a devoted Christian and a compassionate friend to everyone he met.

In 1981 the Vac Shack & Sewing Center opened on North Main St. in Charles City, Roger dedicated his life to making sure that he ran an honest & trustworthy business, Roger would always say “It isn’t a good deal unless it’s a good deal for you and a good deal for me”. It is fair to say that there has never been another man quite like Roger, he had the kindest heart, easy going nature, a natural ability to read people and probably what some may argue was either a gift or a curse was the ability to talk, talk, talk and then once out the door he would follow you out still talking.

Left to honor Roger and remember his love are his daughter Emily and her husband Jeff Meyer of Lake View, IA. Grandchildren, Alexander Riley, Matthew Meyer & Megan Meyer. Roger was greeted in heaven by his cherished parents, many precious pets he loved dearly and numerous never forgotten friends and family.

Roger wished not to have a funeral but instead hoped everyone would get together and celebrate his life while doing what Roger loved to do most; talk, laugh and reminisce. On Saturday Oct. 30, 2021 at The Bridge Church, 913 S. Main St. Charles City, IA his good friend and Minister Patty Kellogg will begin at 10 a.m. with a tribute and stroll  down memory lane, following the remembrance until 1 p.m. the family invites you to join them for refreshments and to celebrate Rogers life.
