Dick married Jan (Ritter) Covault on Aug. 12, 2002, at Wildwood Country Club in Charles City. Their marriage was blessed two years later at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City.

Dick and Jan enjoyed many trips throughout the years, including several cruises, going to Branson, Memphis (think Elvis Presley!), Las Vegas and more. They enjoyed going out to eat and loved being with family and friends. The casino called out to them frequently.

Dick is survived by his loving wife Jan of Charles City, his sister Dorothy Grossmann of Walcott, daughter Rachelle Bobenmoyer of New Hampton, son Romaine (Chris) Wells of Charles City and daughter Rosena (Robert) Beatty of Nashua. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren and sisters-in-law Arlene Wells Nesham, Bev Wells and Barb Wells. He is also survived by Jan’s siblings: (Nancy (Randy) Busching of Erie, Illinois, Bob Ritter of Forest City, Rick (Melinda) Ritter from Greene and Marsha (Scott) Larson of Crystal Lake, Illinois). He is also survived by the three Covault children: Mike (Mary) Covault of Idaho, Linda (Ed) Wood of Missouri and Jon (Mike) Covault of Connecticut. Last but not least is his loving companion, his Shorkie by the name of Tonka.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Maralee, brothers Robert, David, John and Roger and first wife Dorothy Wells, the mother of his children.

The family would like to thank Dr. Paul Royer (our longtime family Doctor) and St. Croix Hospice for all of their wonderful care. Dick was able to spend his last days right at home where he wanted to be. His wishes were to never leave home until his final journey and we are so glad his wishes were granted.

Per Dick’s wishes, he has been cremated and a graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 5, 2021, at Sunnyside Memory Gardens in Charles City, Iowa with daughter Pastor Rachelle presiding over the service with songs by granddaughter, Jennifer.

Jan wants to thank everyone for all the love, prayers and concern shown us during his last month. Condolences may be sent to 600 N. Johnson St., Charles City, IA 50616.
