In 1963 Wayne met, Judy Clancy. On Feb. 22, 1964, they were married at Immaculate Conception Church, Charles City, Iowa. To this union four children were born; Christine Marie, Tracey Lee, Chad Allen and Jason Wayne. As they built their family in Charles City, they eventually moved on to the family farm.

Wayne worked throughout the years as a carpenter, farmer, seed corn salesman, and later years finishing as head of maintenance with First Citizens Bank. He stayed active in the community during the holidays filling the roll of Santa. He was always a strong supporter and follower of Charles City Comet Athletics, was President and board member of the Marble Rock grain elevator, he was a member of the Floyd County Fair Board, and long-time leader and mentor in 4-H. He was President of the Iowa Pony of the Americas Club for a number of years, along with judging local and regional horse shows.

Wayne’s dedication and passion showed in family gatherings and in love for horses. He and Judy raised, showed and sold registered Pony of the Americas and Quarter Horses. He always enjoyed making this a family activity with his children, friends and later in life with his grandchildren. Wayne never turned down a ride around the farm, making every effort to ride his horses along the Cedar River and throughout the Dakota Trails, with Custer Park being a favorite place to trail ride. Wayne always had an open invite for anyone who was up for good conversation and sitting around a campfire enjoying a meal fit for a Cowboy.

Wayne passed away at home surrounded by his family on Nov. 22, 2021. No services are scheduled at this time.
