Visitation will be on Sunday, Jan. 2, 2022 from 3-5 p.m. at the church social hall in Roseville and a Rosary will be prayed at 2:30 p.m. Visitation will continue at the social hall one hour before the Mass on Monday.

Betty Joan (Parcher) Staudt, the daughter of Phillip and Fern (Blum) Parcher, was born Dec. 6, 1935 on a farm east of Marble Rock. She attended school in Marble Rock and graduated from Marble Rock High School. Betty Jo helped on the family farm milking many cows as a kid with her mom, and this chore almost made her late for her own wedding.

On Nov. 27, 1954, Betty Jo was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Russell Staudt, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Roseville. This union was blessed with nine children and 63 years of happiness together. Betty Jo worked on the farm as a housewife raising six children, driving combine and tractors and caring for the lawn. She loved to travel with her family and a few of the places she visited were Hawaii, Rome and the Bahamas.

Betty Jo was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church where she taught CCD, was a circle leader, organist, choir member, Rosary Society President and she mowed the church and cemetery lawns. She was also an ACCW Member, 4-H Leader (she was honored in the 4-H Hall of Fame), a member of the Chat-a Bit Club, Hi-Neighbor Club, Patchwork Pals, Floyd County Quilt Club, Soil Conservation Commission, Extension Council and Quilting Club.

Betty Jo enjoyed knitting, sewing, quilting and lawn mowing. She was very proud to enter many knitting, quilting, embroidery, crocheting and sewing items to the county and state fairs (and much of her work was given to family and friends). Betty Jo donated much of her time and money to her community; helping add an elevator to St. Mary Catholic Church in Roseville and most recently playground equipment to the Floyd County Fairgrounds.

Living family members include her five children: Lorraine (Jerry) Kennedy of Lakeville, Minnesota, Lee (Vickie) Staudt of Woodbury, Minnesota, Lynn (Todd) Teeter of Fort Calhoun, Nebraska, Lyle (Dawn) Staudt of Charles City and Leslie (Amy) Staudt of Rockford; daughter-in-law, Kathy Staudt of Clarksville; 23 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Betty Jo was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Russell of 63 years; son, Louis Staudt; one infant daughter; two infant sons; one grandson; sister, Maxine (Parcher) Hershey; and two brothers: Earl and Jerry Parcher.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be given the Floyd County Fair in Betty Jo’s name.
