Penny Jaeger

Penny Louise Delap Jaeger entered into the house of the Lord at 1:50 a.m. on March 16, 2022. Penny passed away at her home in Converse, Texas and was surrounded by her loving husband and family when she quietly slipped away.

Penny was born in Charles City, Iowa to Jesse and Wyonna (Dill) Delap on Sept. 12, 1958. Shortly after graduating high school early in 1976, she married her high school sweetheart, Brian Jaeger, on February 28, 1976. This union was blessed with six children, Joshua, Matthew, Mark, Jesse, Alejandra and Laura.

After moving to Harper, Kansas in the summer of 1989, Penny started her work in Children Services. She worked at the Anthony SRS office for many years before moving to the Wellington SRS office. During this time of working with Children Services, the Jaegers fostered more than 40 children. In the early 2000’s Penny was diagnosed with Lupus and had to stop doing the job she loved dearly.

Penny had many hobbies that she picked up on after leaving her work. She enjoyed making fleece blankets for her grandchildren, crocheting, needle point and traveling.

Later in 2008 the family moved to Marion, Indiana where Penny then continued as wife, mother and grandmother. Then in 2016 the family moved to Schertz, Texas.

After 22 years of battling Lupus and other associated autoimmune diseases, she was finally able to rest.

Penny was preceded in death by her parents and grandson Matthew Dean O’Donnell. Penny will be deeply missed by her husband Brian; her sons Joshua Jaeger of Ark City, Kansas, Matthew (Jessica) Jaeger of Anthony, Kansas, Mark Jaeger and Amanda Jaeger of Converse, Texas, and Jesse Jaeger and Vianey Jurado of Kyle, Texas; her daughters Alejandra O’Donnell of Marion, Indiana, and Laura Jaeger of Marion, Indiana; her brothers Joe Logan Jr of Elgin, Illinois, and Bruce (Janet) Delap of Charles City, Iowa; Sisters Jeanne Martin of Charles City, Iowa, and Rita (Bob) Duncan Charles City, Iowa; 19 grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, other relatives, many friends, and others with whom she had crossed paths.

Celebrations of life will be held at a later date in Anthony, Kansas and in Charles City, Iowa.
