After his honorable discharge, he married Sharon Kruger in 1963 and they had four daughters. Lou enjoyed pheasant hunting, trapping and traveling to Wyoming every fall for deer hunting. For years, Lou was a firefighter in Charles City, IA, before moving to Cheyenne, WY, and starting Zubrod Brother’s Meats with his brother Ken Zubrod.

Eventually he moved to Laramie, WY, in 1986 where he worked in the meat department at Ideal Foods and other grocery stores until he left and opened his meat market, Big Daddy Meats, in 1998. “Big Daddy” enjoyed the wild game seasons and was known for his 100+ homemade sausages. His wife, Sharon, died in 2003 and Lou retired shortly after.

He married Lynne Pendley, a longtime resident of Laramie, WY, and moved to Peoria, AZ, where they enjoyed warmer climates, golfing, baseball games and tours around the state of Arizona as well as their two English Labradors, Blondie and BB. Lou was battling a blood disorder, MDS, which eventually took his life.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Art and Mary Zubrod, his first wife Sharon Zubrod, his brother Art Zubrod, and his niece Nicole Hammou.

He is survived by his wife Lynne Pendley; his brothers, Gerald Zubrod of Chicago, IL, and Ken Zubrod of Cheyenne, WY; his sister Jean Cagley of Punta Gordo, FL; his daughters Tracy Zubrod, Jackie Goldfarb, Julie Bandemer and Tara Zubrod; his grandchildren Megan Smith, Jordan Smith, Austin Bandemer, Jenna Nussbaum, Michaela Goldfarb, Alexis Pressley, Stephanie Pressley and Brieanne Pressley; and eight great-grandchildren.
