William Klemesrud

William Olaf Klemesrud, 76, of Floyd, Iowa, died of COVID-19 complications on Dec. 21, 2021, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City, Iowa.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held Saturday, April 30, 2022, at 1 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 703 Milwaukee St., Charles City.

William was born Aug. 1, 1945, in Charles City, one of five children, to James Reginald and Helen Maxine (Hansen) Klemesrud. He married his high school sweetheart, Sharlet Mae Stonecypher, on Oct. 24th, 1963. They had two children.

Bill worked for Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Co. as a safety inspector for more than 30 years. He raised his family in the Storm Lake area then returned to the Floyd area where he retired.

Bill enjoyed visiting, hobby farming, classic cars, fixing things and spending time with family. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Charles City. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed.

William is survived by his wife, Sharlet Mae; children, Todd William Klemesrud and Tara Mae Baker; son-in-law David Alan Baker, Glenwood; three grandchildren: Luke David Baker (U.S. Navy) San Diego, Abigail Mae, Coralville, and Rebekah Kathryn; three siblings: Kathy (Bill) Jacobs, Charles City, Jimmy (Joyce) Klemesrud, New Richmond, WI, sister-in-law Linda Klemesrud, and Greg (Myrna) Klemesrud, Mason City; in-laws John and Sharon Lenz and Hank and Sharlene Husky, all of Texas.

William was preceded in death by his brother, Normand Klemesrud.
