Thelma Jean Peterson
Thelma Jean Peterson was born on June 22, 1947, in Aplington, Iowa to George and Gertie (DeVrill) Abbas. She graduated from high school in 1965. On April 26, 1969, Thelma was united in marriage to Peter Cecil Peterson.

She attended Hamilton Business College. After Jennifer’s birth, they moved to Charles City where Pete owned Mr. Pete’s Mens clothing store and she was the bookkeeper. They loved to travel to clothing shows each year. After Mr. Pete’s closed, she became a QA Inspector for Solvay Animal Health where she retired in 2009. She was very involved in the Charles City community through United Way and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
She was an avid golfer and bowler and introduced both kids to the sports. She also loved live music/dancing and reading (Danielle Steele and John Grisham some of her favorite authors).
After retirement in 2009, she moved to Topeka, KS where her children/grandchildren reside, spending much quality time creating special memories. She cared deeply about family near and far.
Jean is survived by her daughter Jennifer (Matt) Luttjohann of Topeka, Kansas, son Scott (Kathryn) Peterson of Topeka, Kansas, sister Marie Anderson of Aplington, Iowa and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Pete and two sisters Geraldine Karsjens and Josephine Abbas.
