Frances Wilson

Frances Wilson, 80, of Charles City, passed away Friday, Jan. 13, 2023 at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

A funeral service for Frances Wilson will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 20, 2023 at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home with Pastor Daniel Larson from Cross Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Charles City.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2023 at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home and will continue one hour before the service at the funeral home on Friday.

Frances Gale (Alden) Wilson, the daughter of Roy and Lottie “Clare” (Walker) Alden, was born Sept. 25, 1942 in Chester, Iowa. She grew up in Riceville and attended Riceville Schools graduating in 1961. After graduation from high school, Frances worked at various jobs in Charles City, at the New Hampton Care Center for many years and most recently at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Saint Marys Campus until her retirement in 2014.

Frances was united in marriage to Robert Wilson on Nov. 5, 1966 at the Methodist Church in Riceville. This union was blessed with one daughter, Jackie. The couple made their home in Charles City.

Frances enjoyed dancing, listening to music, cooking, baking, shopping, reading cookbooks and comparing recipes (trying new ones along the way too), watching T.V. and loved to spend time on the family farm where she was raised. She especially loved spending time with her family and attending her grandchildren’s events.

Living family members include her daughter, Jackie (Dave) Hoffman of Ionia; grandchildren: Tyler Wilson of Charles City, Rebecca Hoffman (Jacob White) of Charles City and Rachel Hoffman of Ionia; sisters, Bonnie (Jim) Hubka of Riceville and Marilyn Nettleton of Greene; brothers: Larry (Karen) Alden of Minnesota and Garry (Delores) Alden of Oregon; in-laws: Shirley Alden of Chester, Lois Alden of Charles City and Elaine Wilson of Wisconsin; along with numerous other extended family members and friends.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert “Bob” Wilson on Aug. 17, 2016; grandson, Ryan Hoffman; siblings: Charles (Norma) Alden, Melvin Alden, Ethel (Marvin) Haley, Darlene (Jerry) Griffin, Dwight (Darlene) Alden and Darwin Alden; in-laws: Betty Tibbitts and Jerry Wilson; and her father and mother-in-law, Glen and Arlene Wilson.
