Stanley James Ferch was born Aug. 12, 1958, at Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City, Iowa, the youngest son of Harold and Lillian Ferch. He was raised on a farm east of Charles City and attended Charles City schools. Stan graduated in 1976 from CCCHS. Several years later, he married Brenda Werner and to this marriage three children were born: Steven, Raymond and Monica. They later divorced.

Stan had a gift for knowing how things worked and fit together, as evidenced by him being a “motorhead.” He used this skill working numerous maintenance and construction jobs over the years. If it was broken, he could always figure out how to piece it back together and make it work!

Stan loved racing! He raced all over northeast Iowa, driving stock car, demolition derby and figure-8 races. When he wasn’t racing, he was working on a pit crew. He especially enjoyed watching his nephew, Pat Ferch, race.

After his divorce, he moved to the mountains outside of Golden, Colorado. He loved the mountains, his mountain-cabin lifestyle and his Colorado friends. He loved living in the mountains these last twenty-five years, with many visits back to Iowa to see family and dear friends.

Stan is survived by his sons, Ray Ferch of Charles City and Steven Ferch and children of Osage, and daughter Monica (Ferch) Brown and children of Osage; his sisters, Pat (Paul) Krueger of Ionia and Micki (Dan) Bartelt of Charles City; nieces and nephews, Paula Crumm, Paul Krueger Jr., Penni Parker, Patti Eden, Peter Krueger; Patrick Ferch, Pam Mahood, LeRoy Ferch Jr., Cindy Oge, Robert Ferch; Niki Rowe, Dawn Lund, Joy Jepperson; Rebekah Baker and Laura Bartelt; along with many great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Lillian Ferch; a big brother, LeRoy Ferch and older sister, Linda Ferch; many uncles and aunts, cousins and close friends.
