Bernard Allen Steinberg

Bernard “Bernie” Allen Steinberg, 76, of Charles City, IA died on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at Fullerton-Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt Street, Charles City. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. with a one hour-prior visitation on Thursday, June 22, 2023, at Calvary Baptist Church, 703 Milwaukee Street, Charles City with Rev. Tim Robbins officiating. Interment will follow at Beckwith Cemetery in Colwell.

Bernie was born on Dec. 6, 1946 in Charles City to Louis and Sylvia (Fenneman) Steinberg. He graduated from Charles City High School and then was drafted into the United States Army where he served in Vietnam from 1969-1971. Bernie was united in marriage on March 28, 1975 to Debby LaBounty at The Little Brown Church in Nashua and to their union one son, Jamie, was born. Bernie worked as a mechanic and engineer for the Iowa Terminal Railroad for 10 years and also worked at White Farm and Dale’s Recycling. He was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church for over 40 years. He enjoyed helping out around the church with what he could. Bernie was a person who liked tinkering with stuff and was good at repairs and inventions.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Debby Steinberg of Charles City; son, Jamie Steinberg of Charles City; twin sister, Bernita Koestner and sister, JoAnn (Charles) Tobin; brothers-in-law, Dennis (Donna) LaBounty; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Teepe, Sandy (Mark) Kuykendall, Gloria (Larry) Rover, Sharon Taylor and Janene (Wayne) Miller and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald Dean Steinberg; sister, Evelyn Fisher; in-laws, Clayton and Elaine Hollar; brothers-in-law, David Koestner, John Fisher and Stan Teepe and sister-in-law, Carol Maschek.
