Patricia ‘Pat’ Anne Baumann

Patricia “Pat” Anne Baumann (nee. Allen), 77, of Greene, passed away peacefully Sunday, Aug. 20, 2023 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinic in Iowa City.

A funeral Mass for Pat Baumann will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 25, 2023 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City with Reverend Tom Heathershaw officiating.  Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Charles City.

Visitation will be held at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home in Charles City from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 24, 2023 and will continue one hour before the service at the church on Friday.

Born Dec. 27, 1945 in Charleston, South Carolina, she was the daughter of Clyde E. and Betty M. (nee: Davenport) Allen. Pat attended Charles City High School and graduated in 1964. After graduation, she modeled with Alex Adams agency in Louisville Kentucky. She married James G. Baumann, Jr. on Jan. 18, 1969 at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church in Fern Creek, Kentucky.

She was a longtime member of the Charles City Improvement Association and was involved in the placement of the many flowers that are now in downtown Charles City.

Pat loved to garden! Every new house was an opportunity to create flower beds and rock gardens. She couldn’t resist putting in more bulbs, another bush and more perennials.

She was also an avid genealogist and researched both her and her husband’s side of the family. In doing so she found a connection to a Revolutionary War Patriot which led her to apply to the Daughters of the American Revolution organization. She became a member of chapters in Iowa and Kentucky. Pat was very talented at cross stitch, quilling, knitting, crocheting and similar arts. She shared her gift of those beautiful arts with her family and many of those pieces grace their walls and will be fond remembrances of her.

She is survived by her husband, Jim Baumann; daughter, Caroline Baumann of Greene IA; son, David Baumann of Pinedale, WY; Breann Baumann, daughter-in-law; Alexis, Baumann, granddaughter; Maximus Baumann, grandson; Huxley Baumann, grandson; brother, Clifford E. Allen, of Montoursville, PA; brother, Colonel (USAF Retired) Craig R. Allen of Fairfax, VA; and sister, Dede M. Allen of Anchorage, AK; nephews, Christopher and Jack Allen of Fairfax, VA; niece, Rebecca Rossi, of Williamsburg VA; and niece, Sarah Allen of Fairfax, VA.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents Clyde E. Allen, Jr. (March 1, 2001) and Betty D. Allen (Dec. 28, 2003) of Montoursville PA, Father-in-Law, James G Baumann, Sr. and Mother-in-Law Anna Marie Kehe.
