Bobby Ray Wolff, the son of Albert and Bertha (Nickel) Wolff was born on July 11, 1930. He received his education in Charles City graduating from Charles City High School in 1948. Bobby married his bride and love of his life, Beverly (Shave) Wolff, on Jan. 18, 1951.

Bobby served his country in the Korean War from 1951-1953 where he earned the rank of Corporal. Upon returning he started his working career at Peterson Cleaners. Following the cleaners, he became a policeman for Charles City. He spent 32 years serving his community and was very proud of his time with the force. He and his wife started an in-home daycare when he retired. He also held a couple part-time jobs including being an electrician with Ivan Brown’s Electric Company and produce manager at Econo Foods.

Bobby enjoyed attending Iowa Hawkeye football games with his wife. Anyone that knew him knew of his love for the Hawkeyes. He shared that love also by taking his grandchildren to one of the games. He made good use of his season tickets. He also enjoyed going to casinos with his wife and granddaughter. In his younger years he spent time putting together wood model airplanes and going pheasant hunting with his family. He had a dream of becoming an architect following school but was called to serve his country.

Bobby and his wife also enjoyed weekly car rides with his children and always getting a treat at the popcorn stand. Following his retirement, he and his wife went on nightly car rides and out to eat. Following his wife’s death, the rides continued daily with his daughter. He also spent time in the evenings working on his sticker book or dancing in the living room with his daughter, granddaughter, and great-granddaughter. He also would be seen at his great-granddaughter’s concerts and volleyball games.

Bobby was a member of the Elks where he served on the board. He and his wife spent many Saturdays eating and dancing with their friends to the entertainment he had arranged for the lodge.

Living family members include his daughter, Diane (Lee) Winter; grandchildren, Ray (Alison) Wolff, Jon Wolff, Heather Hubka, Tony Winter, Penny Willsher, and foster grandson Ryan (Marcy) Ross; nine great-grandchildren; two foster great-grandchildren; along with his former daughter-in-law, JD (Bob) Junkins and her children and grandchildren; nephews and other family members and friends.
