Patty was born on July 21, 1937, in Sioux Rapids, IA, to Clinton Sr and Dorothy (DeLong) Meyer, Patty graduated from Charles City High School. On Aug. 13, 1955 Patty was united in marriage to Frederick Miller at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Austin, Minnesota and to this union three children were born:  Kenneth, Steven, and Susan.

Patty worked as an operator for Northwestern Bell retiring after 35 years of service. Beyond her professional life, Patty also enjoyed ceramics and making puzzles. Above all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Her love for documenting life through photographs was a testament to her appreciation for the beauty in every moment.

Among her many passions, Patty found pure joy in the art of quilting.  She was a member of many quilting guilds. With nimble fingers and a heart full of creativity, she lovingly stitched together quilts that became cherished heirlooms.

As life unfolded, Patty faced challenges that made solo quilting impossible. Yet, through the tender hands of her grandson, Landon, the legacy of her quilting passion continued to flourish. Landon became not just a pair of helping hands, but a bridge of love, connecting generations through the delicate stitches of cherished quilts.

As her expertise and passion for quilting were not only a source of personal fulfillment, but also a gift she eagerly shared. Patty’s knowledge was a guiding light for many aspiring quilters, as she imparted her skills at NIACC and various sewing conferences.

Patty’s legacy is woven into the fabric of the lives she touched, and her memory will forever be stitched into the hearts of those who knew her.
