Kenneth D. Boggess, 77, of Charles City, who died Saturday at Linn Haven Rehab and Health Care in New Hampton.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday Feb. 2, 2024 at Fullerton Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt, Charles City. A gathering for friends and family will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Inurnment services will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens, Charles City.

Kenneth Dean was born on Jan. 10, 1947 in Charles City the son of Glen Erwin and Katherine “Mackemaul” Boggess. The family moved several times, but Ken attended school in Rockford and Charles City and then went to mechanics trade school. For the rest of his life he worked in dealerships doing car repairs. He also worked on cars for friends and families. He started with Schukei Ford in Waterloo and then Bisssonett’s for 19 years in Charles City. He also enjoyed making furniture and doing carpentry work. He enjoyed detective and western movies especially the spaghetti westerns. He enjoyed playing 500 and Euchre. He was very patriotic and served in the Army starting in 1966. He was united in marriage to Kathleen Emerson on Nov. 9, 1968 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. To this union was born a son.

Surviving Kenneth is his son Kelly and wife Tracy (Park) Boggess of Charles City, five grandchildren, Brent and Tyler Gerleman, Parker Lindloff, Ryder LeBaugh, and Trista Rivers, along with three Great Grandchildren Reagan, Beau, and Tate Gerleman.

Preceding him in death are his parents, his wife Kathy in 2010, three brothers Wilbur, Carl, and Denny and one sister Shirley Moyle.
