Lisa attended I.C. Catholic School and Charles City Middle and High School, graduating in 1989 as Valedictorian of her class. During her high school days, she worked evenings at McDonald’s. She graduated from Iowa State University in 1993 where she met her husband, Herb Wamboldt. They were married Oct. 12, 1996, and were blessed with three daughters.

They moved to Chicago where she worked full time and went to night school, obtaining a law degree in taxation at Loyola University Chicago School of Law.

They moved to Washington, D.C., where she continued working full time and obtained her Masters of Taxation degree at Georgetown University in May of 2014.

On Sunday, Feb. 4, 2024, Lisa suffered a brain aneurysm while headed to her morning hike. She was life-flighted to Johns Hopkins and underwent a long surgical procedure to repair the rupture. Unfortunately, during the beginning of her recovery from surgery, Lisa experienced a second devastating rupture. Lisa was called home to the Lord on Feb. 7, 2024. All who knew Lisa were completely stunned and heartbroken.

If you knew Lisa, you loved Lisa. She was joyful, witty, sarcastic, wickedly intelligent, generous, caring, and simply she was the best of us. It  is impossible to imagine our lives without her. True to her giving nature, Lisa was an organ donor, and in her untimely passing has given the gift of life to many others.

Please help us wrap this very special family in love as Herb and their beautiful daughters, Emily, Katie, and Aly, begin to cope with this tragedy and navigate the incredibly difficult road ahead.

Lisa is also survived by her mother, Sara Hrdlicka, of Charles City, her brother, Michael, and his wife, Melanie, and their children, and many nieces and nephews.

Lisa was proceeded in death by her dad in November 2020.
