Curtis Herman

Curtis Herman, 71, of Charles City, Iowa passed away Monday, July 1, 2024 at his home with his loving family by his side.

According to his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services.

Curtis John Herman, the son of Henry and Donna (Krall) Herman, was born Feb. 9, 1953 in Charles City.

Curtis was united in marriage to JoAnn Ferch on July 6, 1974 in Charles City. The couple made their home in Charles City raising their family. He loved fishing, playing cards and spending time with his family.

Living family members include his beloved wife, JoAnn; four wonderful children: Danny, Dawn, Billy Jo and Sandy; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Chad Jones who is still part of the family’s lives; five sisters; two brothers; along with nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Curtis was preceded in death by his father, Henry Herman, step-mother, Shirley Herman; mother, Donna Putney; grandmother, Lois Newman; granddaughter, Brittney Miller; grandson, Dustin Dickhoff; and two brothers: David Herman and Calvin Putney.

Curt’s breaths become shallow, As the sun sets on his life, Craig holds his hand; a silent farewell, Memories of fishing trips flood their minds. The room fills with a bittersweet melody, Of laughter, tears, and whispered goodbyes, Craig stays by his side till the very end, As Curt slips away; like a gentle tide.
