Edward Paul ‘Buzz’ Sullivan

Edward Paul “Buzz” Sullivan, 60, of Charles City, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2024 at Comprehensive Systems in Charles City.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2024 at St. Peter Catholic Church in New Haven, IA with a continued celebration of Eddie’s life in the church basement to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Hospice of North Iowa or Comprehensive Systems.

Our special gift arrived on June 16, 1964 and passed away on July 13, 2024 at the age of 60. When Mom, Dad and Edward Paul “Buzz” arrived home, we were told that Mom had given birth to a special baby. Mom and Dad used the words, Down Syndrome. All we knew after Eddie came home was that he was special and life on the Sullivan farm was about to change. Needless to say that everyone who knew Eddie, knew he didn’t test us, he blessed us. He was the spark that kept us all on our toes. Everybody has “Eddie stories” that keep us all laughing. He knew no strangers, as all were friends. Thank you Eddie, for changing our lives for the better.

Eddie’s early schooling was at Floyd Elementary, then he attended Charles City school until graduating in 1985. After high school, Eddie was employed through Comprehensive Systems and lived in Charles City and Osage throughout his life. He was blessed with a full and active life, including numerous vacations with his family. Our “Buzz” was always the life of the party!

Eddie, the youngest of ten children, is survived by his Mother, Marlyn (Osage) Siblings, Linda (Al) Marquesen, Albia, IA; Kathy (Larry) Vaira, Billings, MT; Joe (Deb) Olympia, WA; Bill (Lydia) Palacious, TX; Dan (Diane) Osage, IA; Mike (Monique) Kasson, MN; Mary (Michael) Irigoin, Brockton, MT; Tom (Donna) Osage, IA, and many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews who loved him so much.

He was preceded in death by his Father, Keith; Brother, Jim; Grandparents, Harold and Marie Sullivan; and Ervin and Esther Groth.

Thank you to all the friends and caretakers who have shared their life and loved our “Buzz”. Where there is great love, there is great sorrow. As Eddie would say…. “Be Happy!”
