Jeanne A. Meyer

Jeanne Ann Meyer, daughter of Milton and Myrtle (Naig) Brandau, was born Jan. 29, 1933, in Osage, Iowa. She received her education in Charles City and graduated from Charles City High School.
On Jan, 16, 1951, Jeanne was united in marriage to Bernie Meyer at Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City, Iowa. To this union, six children were born.
Jeanne worked for Oliver Tractor Company in Charles City. When Jeanne had children, she was a faithful mother and homemaker. In 1964, they moved to Ruthven where she worked at R&R Grocery Store for several years. After moving to Mason City in 1980, Jeanne began a successful day care business in her home.
During her retirement, she moved back to Charles City. There, she stayed active volunteering for the Senior Center and helping deliver Meals on Wheels. She was a devoted member of Messiah Lutheran Church where she served on the church board, helped in the kitchen, and enjoyed making quilts.
In 2019, Jeanne moved to Laurens and later Ruthven to be closer to family. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Ruthven.
She loved playing cards, especially “500,” square dancing, and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoyed having her grandchildren over for a week at a time.
Jeanne passed away Wednesday, Sept, 11, 2024 at the Ruthven Community Care Center in Ruthven, Iowa, at the age of 91. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernie Meyer; son, Loren Meyer in infancy; parents, Milton and Myrtle Brandau; brothers, Milton Jr. “Sonny” Brandau, Don (Lillian) Brandau, Larry (Linda) Brandau; and two sisters in infancy.
She is survived by five children, Cathy (Tom) Dole of Brandon, Mississippi, Mike (Jackie) Meyer of Ruthven, Iowa, Monty (Beverly) Meyer of Bettendorf, Iowa, Rhonda (Kevin) Griffin of Laurens, Iowa, and Jim (Brenda) Meyer of Papillion, Nebraska; 10 grandchildren, Jeremiah Dole, Bethany Miller, Loren Meyer, Carrie Meyer, Samantha Meyer, Tony Meyer, Nicole Peterson, Amber Helgeson, Jared Meyer, and Amanda Snyder; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister-in-law, Maureen Brandau; as well as many other relatives and friends.
Visitation: Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024, 9 to 10 a.m., Zion Lutheran Church, Ruthven, Iowa.
Service: Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024, 10 a.m., Zion Lutheran Church, Ruthven, Iowa.
Clergy: Rev. Eric Patten.
Interment: Osage Cemetery, Osage, Iowa.
