Carol Ann Brown
Carol Ann Brown of Charles City, passed away on Sept. 26, 2024, at the age of 77.
Carol is forever loved, mourned and remembered by her daughters Gina (Scott) Phearman, Angela Sinnwell, Kelly (John) Powell, Shawna Davis (Daryl King), her grandchildren Ellyn Phearman (Christopher Schaupp), Alexander Phearman (Sophie Rubashkin), Anna Phearman (Will Heller), Dalton Schutjer, Jadyn Schutjer (Dylan Moore), Elliott Sinnwell, Brooke Ivens (Ian Ivens), Louis Powell, Jake Powell, Orion Davis, Alexis Davis (Chad Schaschwary), great granddaughters Cora and Leona Schaupp, her brother Earl (Barb) Meerdink, sister-in-law Betty (David) Holtz, Nieces and Nephews Debra (Bob) Hocking, Jonathan Jones, Christine Kennedy, Amy (Andy) Engberg, Joel (Carin) Meerdink, Elizabeth Meerdink, Tammy (Terry) Frascht, Troy Meerdink (Kim Woolworth), and many great nieces and nephews.
She was proceeded in death by her husband Garry Brown, parents Floyd and Gladys Meerdink, brother Paul Meerdink, sister-in-law Marian Meerdink, sister Janet Meerdink, father-in-law Clifford Brown, mother-in-law Merna (Ritter) Brown, Brother-in-law Dale Kinter, and niece Laura Jones.
Carol attended school in Charles City, graduating in 1965. While in high school, Carol met the love of her life, Garry, and they were married in 1965 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. They resided in Charles City, IA, where they raised their four daughters. Carol worked for many years in the dental offices of Dr. Gordon Williams and Dr. Greig Grimm and later at Principal Financial Group until her retirement.
Carol was an amazing wife, mom, grandma, and great grandma. She has left her family with many happy memories of holidays, birthdays, family events, and vacations. Carol was selfless and would often drop everything to help others, especially her family. Carol and Garry enjoyed vacationing with family and friends, a beach vacation or sitting by a mountain stream were some favorite trips, attending countless activities for their grandchildren, Wednesday night car cruises, being part of many clubs and organizations, and most of all spending quality time with family and friends.
A celebration of Carol’s life will take place on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 11 a.m., at Messiah Lutheran Church, Charles City, IA. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 15 minutes prior to the start of the service at the church on Saturday. A luncheon will follow Carol’s service at the church. A private interment will be held at a later date.
