Brian MacDonald Stewart

Brian MacDonald Stewart joined the angels on June 7, 2024. He passed due to natural causes.

Brian was born in Charles City, July 26,1932 to Pauline Artz Stewart and Earl Stewart.

Brian is survived by his sister, Diane Stewart Ryan of Rochester, Minnesota; his nephew Chris (Gerry) Casper of Minneapolis, Minnesota; his daughter Kari (Cliff) Finley of Santa Paula, California; his son Scott Stewart of San Diego, California; as well as seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his grandson Brian.

Upon graduation from Charles City High School, Brian attended Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa.

Soon afterwards, Brian answered a call to adventure westward, and moved to Los Angeles with his new bride, Carolyn Boleng. They were married for 32 years.

Brian became established in financial management within the defense industry. After 10 years in southern California, his career led him north to Monterey County. Later after contract completion, he became Executive Director of the United Way of Monterey County.

Brian enjoyed raising his family, supporting little league, 4-H and high school sports. He was able to enjoy his passion for horses, and all animals on the family farm.

Brian was engaged with community charity fundraising, United Way campaigns, Elks Lodge and the Monterey County Sheriff’s Posse.

After retirement, Brian returned to his native and beloved Charles City, Iowa, with frequent trips back to California to visit his family.

Brian is remembered for his generous sense of humor, and kind and gentle soul.

Memorials may be sent to Floyd County Medical Center Foundation Fund, and St. John’s Lutheran Church of Charles City.
