Larry Lee Welch
Larry Lee Welch, 86, of Marble Rock, passed away Monday, Oct. 28, 2024, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 1, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church in Rockford. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Woodley Funeral Home and Crematory of Greene is caring for Larry and his family.
Larry was born April 14, 1938, in rural Marble Rock on the family farm, son of Kenneth and Helen (Nixt) Welch. He graduated from Marble Rock High School in 1956. On Nov. 27, 1964, Larry was united in marriage to Shirley Lindloff at the United Methodist Church in Marble Rock. To this union, one daughter was born.
Larry worked on the family farm. In later years, he was a forklift driver at Mason City Recycling. Larry was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Marble Rock, then became a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Rockford.
Larry enjoyed playing the accordion. He loved nature, bird watching and wildlife. Larry looked forward to his Sunday drives, especially in the fall to admire the leaves. He oftentimes read farming and nature books. Larry loved his daughter and his grandchildren. He enjoyed puzzles and ice cream with his family.
Larry is survived by his wife Shirley Welch of Marble Rock; daughter Teresa (Steven) Wells of Marble Rock; and grandchildren Aaron (Megan), Alyssa, Anna and Sadie Wells. He was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Helen Welch, and in-laws Chris and Edna Lindloff.
