Gary Lee Jung

Gary Lee Jung, age 87, of Asheville, died on Sunday, Nov. 17, 2024.

Gary was born on July 11, 1937, in Floyd County, Iowa and lived in Charles City, Iowa, Minnetonka, Minn., and Chagrin Falls, Ohio before settling in Weaverville, NC in 1992 with his wife of 52 years, the late Bernice Cathcart Jung. He retired as Vice President of sales from Volvo Construction having been in sales for over 45 years. He also served honorably in the United States Air Force from June 1, 1955 – June 21, 1963.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, Leonard J. Jung and Genevieve Lydia Summers Jung; and brother, Jimmy Joe Jung.

Surviving are his daughters, Karen Schiefelbein and husband William of Haymarket, VA, and Kathy Rothenfeld and husband Daryl of Asheville, NC; and grandchildren, Faith, Zachary, Lily and Samuel.

Gary’s funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024, at the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with the Chaplain Bill Williamson officiating. Inurnment will follow at West Memorial Park.

A reception will follow the inurnment at Pinebrook Farms Clubhouse, 25 Pinebrook Club Dr., Asheville, NC 28804.
