Josephine ‘Josie’ Neal
Josephine “Josie” Neal, 79, of Charles City, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and Gigi, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2024 at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.
A funeral service for Josephine Neal will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2024, at Bethany Alliance Church in Charles City.
Visitation was held from 5-7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, 2024, at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home and it will continue one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday.
Josephine Ruth (Wiens) Neal, the daughter of Reuben and Maria (Enns) Wiens, was born Jan. 30, 1945 in Mountain Lake, Minnesota.
Josie is survived by husband, Richard “Dick” Neal of 60 years; their three children: Rochelle “Chel” (Todd) Stewart, Douglas Neal, and Jacqueline “Jacki” (Mike) McLaughlin. Josie was very close to her only granddaughter, Justine “Justi” (Anthony) Blanchard and loved spending time with her three great-grandchildren: Charlotte, Granuaile “Elle”, and Brodysseus “Brody”.
She is also survived by three of her four siblings and their families: Judy and Ron Bormann, John and Gwen Wiens, and Joel and Wendy Wiens; her sister-in-law, Judy (Wiens) and Rich Carlson.
Josie will reunite in Heaven with her brother, Jim Wiens; and her parents, Maria (Enns) and Reuben Wiens.
Josie had a strong faith and was very involved at Bethany Alliance Church over the years in BAC Kids, teaching Sunday School, and bringing food for potlucks. She worked at the Charles City School System for over thirty years until retiring in 2009.
Josie was an avid reader and now has access to the largest library ever. She loved games and had a fun sense of humor. She drove the support van for RAGBRAI for over ten years and enjoyed people watching in the towns along the way.
Josie’s 80th birthday is coming up January 2025 and she made it very clear that she did not want a party. She had plans to party in Heaven where she’ll be enjoying all the ice cream and chocolate.
