Robert ‘Bob’ J. Reams, Sr.

Robert “Bob” J. Reams, Sr. passed away on April 22, 2025, at the Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City, Iowa surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 25, 2025, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Reverend Tom Heathershaw officiating.  Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Charles City,

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home in Charles City and will continue one hour before the service at the church on Friday.

Robert “Bob” James Reams, Sr. was born on January 23, 1941, to James & Virginia Reams in Marble Rock, Iowa. He attended school in Marble Rock until the 7th grade and then graduated from Floyd High School in 1958. After high school, Bob worked for area farmers before getting drafted. He served in the United States Army stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War where he achieved the rank of Specialist 4. Upon his return, he went to work on a pipeline crew before starting to farm north of Charles City. To supplement his farming income, Bob started working at Oliver (later White Farm Inc.). During his work at Oliver, Bob performed various jobs from assembly line work to running a machine and as a forklift operator. Bob worked at Oliver until their closing in 1993.

Bob married Diane Woodworth on Dec. 4, 1970, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City. To this union they added Renae, Robert “Bob” Jr., Chris, and Mitch to their family.

Bob enjoyed being around his family and friends. He loved attending his grandchildren’s activities and sharing stories with anyone that would listen. In their free time, Bob and Diane liked to play cards and go to the casino. Bob was a “numbers whiz” which amazed everyone. He shared his farming knowledge during his time as a seed dealer with NuTech Seed. During his retirement years, Bob enjoyed driving around members of the Mennonite community while sharing lollipops with the children.

Bob is survived by his children, Renae (Dave) Reams, Bob Jr. (Heidi) Reams, and Mitch (Sarah) Reams; grandchildren Shawna (Chris) Belcourt, Kayla (Ben) Harper, Justin Reams, Emily Reams, Amber Reams (Jalen Rosenbeck), Lydia Reams, Jonathan Reams, Dominic Reams and Colin Reams; and great grandchildren Liam Harper and Graycnn Belcourt, as well as brothers and sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife Diane, son Chris and daughter in law Colleen McLaughlin.
