Julie Kay (Field) Eggena was born Jan. 24, 1965, in Osage, Iowa, the daughter of Edward Field and Beverly (Chambers) Mathers. She graduated from Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock High School in 1983. On June 15, 1984, she was united in marriage to Joseph Eggena. From this union – three children were born John Eggena, Emily (Eggena) King, and Sarah (Eggena) Flanders.
Julie held many titles over the years; Entrepreneur, manufacturer, food and hospitality, and lifelong learner. Whether she was working at the farm or on the job – working to serve others was always important to her.
Julie was a proud mom and grandma whose greatest passion was her family. When she wasn’t helping Joe out on the farm, you could find her deeply involved in her children’s activities. She fully immersed herself in whatever her kids were passionate about. There wasn’t an event she missed – whether it was John’s Boy scout meetings, wrestling matches, or football games. She also helped coach Emily and Sarah’s youth soccer and softball teams, and spent countless hours taking them to dance competitions and camps. Much of her life was spent at the ball diamond, in a gym, under the lights or around the track.
As her family grew, so did her joy. She cherished every opportunity to support her grandchildren. She loved cheering them on at ball games, dance recitals and every event in between. She loved it all.
Julie’s legacy is one of devotion, sacrifice and unconditional love. Her unwavering support, endless energy, and deep love will be forever remembered by all who knew her.
Living family members include her three children, John (Jenn) Eggena of Greene, Emily (Kyle) King of Charles City, Sarah (Shawn) Flanders of Cedar Falls; 10 grandchildren; Lily, Henry, Loren, Leroy, and Ervin Eggena, Natalie and Madalynne King, Nolan Pruisner, Mack and Beau Flanders; Her mother Beverly (Terry) Mathers of Rudd; her siblings Jolene (Tim) Rogers of Ringsted, John (Jody) Field of Rockford, Jerry (Jodi) Field of Forest City, Laura (Jason) Boyd of Charles City; and many nieces and nephews.
