Henry Martin

Henry Martin, 82, of Ionia, passed away Monday, June 16, 2025 at his home.

Funeral services for Henry Martin will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, June 20, 2025 at Deerfield Mennonite Church, Cheyenne Avenue, Ionia. Burial will occur in the Deerfield Mennonite Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Martin home, 1116 180th Street, Ionia, Iowa 50645 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 19, 2025. Please omit flowers.

Henry was born Feb. 21, 1943, in Leola, Pennsylvania to the late Rufus and Katie (Nolt) Martin. He married Alta Zimmerman on Aug. 12, 2021.

Surviving are seven children: John, husband of Emma (Martin) Martin of Charles City, Dana, husband of Dorothy (Weaver) Martin of Charles City, Florence, wife of Larry Burkholder of Ionia, Martha, wife of Justin Zeiset of Charles City, Rhoda of Leola, Pennsylvania, Henry Jr. of Honeybrook, Pennsylvania and Katherine, wife of Ervin Zimmerman of Ionia; 33 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers: Rufus (Katie) of Mifflinburg, Pennsylvania, John (Catherine) of Versailles, Missouri and Aaron (Nancy) of Fortuna, Missouri; and sister-in-law, Edna Martin, wife of late husband David Martin of New Holland, Pennsylvania.

Also surviving are Alta’s 3 children: Lois, wife of Leonard Martin of Versailles, Missouri, Elvin, husband of Esther Mae (Shirk) of Orchard and Erla, wife of Nevin Martin of Versailles, Missouri; 21 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Vera Martin; his parents; two brothers: Levi Martin and David Martin; and sister, Emma Martin.
