LETTER: Schwickerath for Floyd County supervisor

By Colette Schmidtke  |  Charles City

Roy Schwickerath has been representing the citizens of Floyd County as a county supervisor for the past three and a half years. As is true at all levels of government, the county has many issues that come before the board that require good listening skills, detailed research, extra time committed and fiscal responsibility. Roy has engaged in all of these as he has served on the Board of Supervisors and the various committees associated with the county.

Roy has taken leadership roles on various county boards and committees. He serves as vice-chair of the 22-lowa-county Social Services Board. He is vice-chair of the North lowa Vocational Board. He is a member of the Foster Grandparent Board. He represents the supervisors with the investigation of a new jail and law enforcement center. Added to these responsibilities are additional boards and committees that meet at various times throughout the month.

Roy brings a common sense approach to the issues facing the county. He is willing to seek additional information to have all sides of an issue before a decision is made. He has worked with tax-generated budgets and is well-aware of the need to be fiscally responsible. Roy is responsive to the voters of Floyd County and wants to know the concerns and issues that are important to them. Working cooperatively with the other supervisors, he has and will continue to seek satisfactory resolutions to these concerns and issues.

He will work to address the needs of the county infrastructure. He will work to promote commercial and industrial expansion that will help with economic growth in the county. He will keep his goal to help build strong partnerships within Floyd County.

Voting for Roy will let the citizens of Floyd County capitalize on the expertise and knowledge he has and has acquired during his time as supervisor. He can continue the leadership work he has started at the county, committee, and board levels. I urge you to vote for Roy Schwickerath on Nov. 8.
