LETTER TO THE EDITOR — CC drivers: Learn how to turn

Time to wake up some Charles City vehicle drivers and bicycle riders.

Main street is a two-way street which contains parallel parking spaces on either side. Those parking spaces are not for another line of traffic when unoccupied.

Twice this past week while stopped for a traffic light on Main Street with our right turn signal on, another vehicle crept up on the right side which nearly caused a collision had we not noticed the unexpected vehicle when we attempted to make a legal right turn.

Empty parking spaces are not a turning lane, people. Furthermore, if you are parked and want to leave then wait and pull into the proper position to make a right turn.

Perhaps some signage is needed to help avoid these occurrences.
