Warhawks wallop Warriors on Friday

West Fork defense too much for RRMR offense

After a thrilling start to the season less than a week ago, the Warriors found a mark in the loss column after Friday night’s 62-31 loss to West Fork.

The Warriors put up 10 points in the fourth quarter, the only segment of the game where the team scored in double-digits. A 30-15 deficit at halftime left the Warriors in a sizable hole to climb out of.

Sophomore Zach Bushbaum, who helped the Warriors to an overtime win earlier in the week with signature 3-pointers, failed to convert one Friday night, going 0-for-3. He had one point on a free throw.

Senior Zack Westendorf and freshman Jake Staudt were both 2-for-3 from the 3-point line, giving the Warriors a little bit of offense in what was a fairly dry game.

Westendorf finished with eight points and Staudt finished with his six.

It was a clean game for the Warriors, however, only committing six fouls overall. Three of them went to senior Tony Hain, who finished the night with four points and four rebounds.

RRMR’s bench contributed in a positive way, outscoring the starters 18-13.

The Warriors get some time off until they come back and host Top of Iowa Conference opponent Northwood-Kensett on Dec. 11 at 7:30 p.m.

RRMR also hosts AGWSR on Dec. 12. The two teams will play at 5:30 p.m. at Rockford Senior High School.
