To the Press

The 7th and 8th-grade boys opened their seasons in St. Ansgar on Monday night.

The 7th-graders won 32-12. They were led by JJ Ritter who scored nine points, Justin Heyer who had eight and Jamauri Roberts chipped in six points. The overall defense was pretty good.

“Anytime holding a team to 12 points, you have a pretty good chance to be successful,” said 8th-grade boys basketball coach Brad Ritter.

The Comets record is now 1-0. The 8th-graders won 56-10. The Comets were led by John Sibuma with 13 points, Keyon Hamilton with 12, Dawson Hinders with 11 and Tait Arndt with seven.

“I thought our communication on defense was definitely a positive last night,” Ritter said. “It helped us get in situations where we could read passing lanes and get out on fast breaks. We ran the floor really well. We’ll need the same intensity every game this season.”

The Comets record is 1-0.
