Bearcats earn win against Central Springs, 44-21

After a split weekend, the girls at North Butler were able to put a convincing win on the board in a 44-21 win against Top of Iowa Conference opponent Central Springs.

Knocking down big shots when they needed to, and stepping up on defense, head coach Kevin Clipperton said he was “feeling good” after Tuesday night’s win.

“We just told them they had to wash that loss away,” Clipperton said of Saturday night’s loss to West Hancock.

“We didn’t bring the energy that night, but we really brought the energy tonight.”

Clipperton said the girls responded well to the wellcoached Panthers. Making adjustments at halftime and on the fly helped the Bearcats find their second win of the season. Sitting at 2-3, 1-0 TOIC, the Bearcats have already made significant strides.

“It was a total team effort tonight,” Clipperton said.

“Jenny Rottler had a great game. She moved the ball around really well in traffic.

She’s getting us where we need to be.”

Rottler had nine points on the night.

Hallie Testroet and Marcy Jacobs tied at the leading scorers for the Bearcats with 12 points each. Sophomore Nicole Heeren had four points and sophomore Madi Pleas had two points.

The Bearcats return home on Dec. 11 to play Saint Ansgar. That game begins at 6:15 p.m.
