Knights top Nashua-Plainfield

The Huskies’ boys basketball team fell to 0-5 on the season after the 70-46 loss to Newman Catholic.

Head coach Justin Eiffler said in less than 24 hours, he saw his team make some critical improvements.

“We did the little things we talked about on Monday night a lot better,” Eiffler said. “Our effort is getting there. We were within three possessions in the third quarter, but we just made a few too many mental errors.

At the end of the third, the score was 48-35, well within striking distance. But with less than a day’s worth in turn around, and without a practice, Eiffler said the next couple days will come as a nice rest period.

“We need a break,” Eiffler said. “But that’s why I chose to have these games back-toback. I wanted to see how our team would respond. And we’ll get there. We’ll bounce back by Friday night.”

Senior Brody Schmitt led the Huskies with 15 points.

Alex Bienemann had seven points and Zach Bond and Dayton Hanson each had six.

The Huskies play host to Central Springs on Friday night, tipping off at 7:30 p.m.

at home.
