BOYS BASKETBALLL Bearcats run past Vikings, 62-51

NORTHWOOD — Reid Lammer scored a game-high 19 points, and Dylan Clipperton and Todd Nolan added 15 and 11 points, respectively, to lead North Butler past Northwood-Kensett, 62-51, on Tuesday night. The Bearcats jumped out to a 21-10 lead in the first quarter and managed to double the Vikings’ score at the half (36-18).

“We like to run our defense full court, and that tends to wear them out,” North Butler coach Dave Brown said. “They don’t have a deep bench, so we like to put pressure on their five starters.”

The Bearcats improved to 7-3 overall, and 7-2 in the Top of Iowa-East Conference.

“We’re about where we want to be at this point in the season,” Brown said. “We’re tied for second place in the conference, and we’re looking to move up.”

The Vikings fell to 5-6 and 4-5.
