N-P Lady Huskies begin season at Wartburg Invite

WAVERLY — The Nashua-Plainfield girls track team officially opened its season Tuesday afternoon at the Wartburg College Girls Varsity Invitational, featuring many of the top athletes in the state.
The best finishes on the day for the Lady Huskies were seniors Briley Fisher and Kaylee Eggers. Fisher finished fourth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:05.44, while Eggers took sixth in the 55-meter hurdles, finishing with a time of 9.73 seconds.
Fisher also gave a strong performance in the high jump, finishing in a four-way tie for seventh at 4’8”. Senior Aubry Bienemann also competed in the high jump for the Huskies, and had a clear of 4’6” that was good for a six-way tie for 11th.
Bienamann also competed in the 800-meter run and finished a respectable 11th with a time of 2:40.36, besting her top mark from last season of 2:42.48 by more than two seconds. N-P sophomore Emma Sinnwell also competed in the 800 run, and finished 19th with a time of 2:49.47.
Junior Sierra Fisher represented Nashua-Plainfield in the 1,500-meter run, but ran into some stiff competition and finished 29th with a time of 6:29.56.
In the long jump competition, sophomore Morgan Kapping was the lone representative for Nashua-Plainfield. Although Kapping finished right around the middle of the pack at 15th, her mark of 14’1” did surpass her best from the previous season.
The team will not see action until March 29, when the Huskies make their home debut against Clarksville, Janesville, Northwood-Kensett,Osage, Riceville and Rockford.
