Charles City to host North/South All-Star Wrestling Meet, March 26

CHARLES CITY — The 38th annual North/South All-Star Wrestling Meet hosted by the Charles City Mat Club in conjunction with the Iowa National Guard is planned for Saturday, March 26 at 6 p.m. in the Charles City High School gym.  Tickets are available at the door for $10.

For the first time in its history, the N/S All Star Meet will be broadcast live with a portion of the proceeds going to the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum.

Senior state champions and place finishers from all over the state of Iowa come together in one last match of their high school careers. Due to participate are Comet senior state qualifiers Austin Staudt (138), Max Forsyth (145), Nick Jacobs (195) and Brody Tupy (285).

Also scheduled to be part of the meet are Dan Gable Mr. Wrestler Awards winners Carter Isley (285) of Albia and Ethan Anderson (220) of Southeast Polk.

Meets in the past have seen many future all-Americans, NCAA champions, as well as Olympic medal winners.

The N/S All-Star Meet will likely be the final varsity-level event held inside Comet Gym.
