Serves U Right wins YMCA Adult Volleyball League title

CHARLES CITY — Practice? Who needs practice?
Not Basketball Hall of Fame 2016 inductee Allen Iverson who apparently saved his best shots for the games.
Adjustments? Who needs adjustments?
Not volleyball team Serves U Right, even after it got spanked by Delta Force in the second game of a best-of-three championship match for the Charles City YMCA Adult Volleyball League title.
Serves U Right won the first game handily, 25-12, only to have Delta Force strike back to win the second, 25-17, to force a third game Wednesday night at the YMCA.
Obviously, Serves U Right needed to regroup. Or did they?
“We don’t make adjustments,” Serves U Right frontliner Sheena Bohlen said. “We just go out and play our game the way we always play it. It just comes down to how well we play it.”
Serves U Right played the third game well enough to win 25-23 and claim the league title.
“We were undefeated during the tournament, though we lost a couple of matches during the regular season,” said Bohlen, whose teammates include Marlowe Jung, Brittney Katcher, Eric Miller, Brandon Rippentrop and Danielle Rippentrop.
Serves U Right put a bump in the UCONN-like dominance of The Tree Rats, who had won three straight YMCA titles.
The next YMCA Adult Volleyball League season will start in the fall.
