CHARLES CITY — The Charles City girls varsity golf team came up just a little short while hosting Decorah Monday at Cedar Ridge.

How short?

Vikings 218, Comets 219.

It wasn’t all bad news for Charles City, however, as senior Jamie Sindlinger finished with the day’s best score, carding a 49 and edging out Vikings senior Melanie Grossman for medalist honors by two strokes.

Also competing for Charles City was junior Gen Wandro, who finished with a score of 55; senior Taylor Hoffman, 60; sophomore Emma Williams, 63; junior Abby Milligan, 67; and junior Mija Cotton who carded a 68.

The weather proved to be a factor for both sides, as cold winds made the nine-hole round of golf into a battle of endurance.
