Youth and seniors tee off at CR golf tourneys

CHARLES CITY — Cedar Ridge Golf Course held its annual Youth Golf Tournament on Wednesday.

Skylar Houdek won the Boys 14-18 division with a nine-hole score of 38 (2 over).

The next best score was from Isaac Houdek, who won the Boys 10-and-under division with a 51. Hunter Sullivan was the Boys 11-13 champ with a 54 score.

The day before, Cedar Ridge hosted its 2-Man Senior Best Shot Tournament. There were four divisions based on the combined ages of the teams.

In the 110-129 combined age division, the team of Lubbert-Jarvis won with a tourney-best, 12-under 60 score (18 holes).

The team of Milestone-Exline won the 130-135 division (62); the team of Parr-Hannah won the 136-150 division (62); and the team of Schultz-Vorseth won the 151-165 division (67).

In the tourney’s “Closest to the Pin” competitions, Denny Hanson won on Hole No. 7, Kenny Lester won on Hole No. 9, John Schlump won on Hole No. 13, and Tom Sisson won on Hole No. 18.

Cedar Ridge and Wildwood Municipal Golf Course will be co-hosts of the annual Charles City Open Amatuer Tournament. The two-day tournament will take place Aug. 13 (Saturday) at Wildwood (shotgun start at 9 a.m.) before moving across town to Cedar Ridge on Aug. 14 with assigned tee times based on highest to lowest first-day scores.
