Golf outing to benefit FC Cancer Friends, Aug. 17 at Wildwood
Staff Report
CHARLES CITY — If all goes according to plan, everyone will leave with a prize.
The first dibs at the bounty are what they’re going to be playing for … as well as to raise support for the Floyd County Cancer Friends.
For the second year in a row, St. John Lutheran Church will hold a golf fundraiser for the aforementioned organization. The church has held benefit outings for other organizations off and on throughout the years, and due to the success and response from last year’s outing for FCCF decided to hold another.
The nine-hole tournament will take place Aug. 17 (a Wednesday) at Wildwood Municipal Golf Course. Start is at 5 p.m.
The format is four-man-team, best-ball. Cost is $25, which includes golf and dinner. The tournament will try to accommodate players who don’t have a team by matching them up with teams that need players to fill foursomes.
Registration is being taken at the church located at 200 South Main St., or by phone at (641) 228-3397.
Businesses and individuals interested in donating prizes should also contact the church.
The winning teams will have first choice from the prize collection, followed by the next placers.
