To the Press
WATERLOO — The Cedar Valley CourtKings will open their 2018 training camp this Friday in preparation for their season opener on April 8 at 7:30 p.m. at the Cedar Valley SportsPlex.
While the 20 man roster has been set, not all players will be in attendance as Eric Coleman is playing professionally in Portugal, and Johnny Jackson and David Stanley are currently competing in the American Basketball Association in Georgia and Florida, respectively.
Returning to help bring the CourtKings a third straight MBL title are guards Anthony James, Aundre Hicks, left handed sharp shooter Dylan Hale, and 2017 MBL Rookie of the Year Raheem Tyner.
Newcomers to the season include former William Penn standout and NAIA All-American Brady Burford, and MBL veterans Marcus Smith, Darius Campbell, and Bradley Dockemeyer.
Seven foot center Isaiah Cotton from Missouri Baptist University has also been invited.
Several local players are expected to compete for a roster spot this year, including Queshawn Roby, Tony Johnson, Tyler Richardson, and former Mt. Mercy guard DiMarco Mallet.
Additionally, Raijon Kelly will be returning from professional play in Portugal, while fans may be treated to a potential return of Marvin Singleton, who has played five games for the Iowa Wolves of the NBA G-League this season.
