Comet football players feted at annual awards banquet

During Sunday’s Comet Football Awards Banquet, Charles City senior Kayden Blunt (pictured) was this season’s recipient of the Comet Football MVP Award. Blunt was also awarded as the team Most Valuable Offensive Back, Most Valuable Defensive Linebacker and Defensive Player of the Year, a.k.a. The Hammer Award.
Blunt was among the three Comets named to the All-Class 3A-District 3 First Team with, Ethan Peterson and Blake Wilson.
Comets named to the All-Class 3A-District 3 Second Team were Trevor Peterson, Nathan Lopez, Gabe Rogstad and (not pictured) Isaiah Roe.
Comets named to the All-District Academic Team (criteria is must be a junior or senior contributor with a cumulative 3.4 grade-point-average or better) were Micah Hillhouse, Blake Wilson and Hayden Heyer. Wilson was also named All-State Academic due to having at least a 3.7 GPA.
Wilson was also awarded as the team’s Most Valuable Offensive Player and Most Valuable Offensive Lineman as well as receiving the Ed Wilson Memorial Award.
Ethan Peterson received the Most Valuable Special Team Player Award.
Trevor Peterson received the Ironman (Toughest Player) Award.
Nathan Lopez received the team’s Coaches Award and the Most Valuable Defensive Back Award.
Kaden Litteton was named the team’s Most Valuable Offensive Receiver and received the Newcomer Award.
Colton Anderegg was awarded as the team’s Most Valuable Defensive Lineman.
Zach Chambers received the Practice Player of the Year Award.
Josiah Cunnings, Zach Chambers and Ethan Peterson were honored for their roles as the Comets’ Co-Captains for the entire season.
Nathan Lopez, Kayden Blunt, Trevor Peterson, Keegan Bollman, Blake Wilson, Carter Burkhardt, Brayden Ellis and Colton Anderegg were all honored for their respective Week 1 to Week 9 roles as Game-Day Captains.
